**Always feed by weight not volume** Weigh your feed scoop empty then with the food and subtract the weight of the empty scoop. A set of cheap scales could be an excellent investment for your barn. Make adjustments in quantity gradually. ** Feed Horses as Individuals** All horses are different. Take into consideration their age, breeding status, work load, forage availability and quality, and most importantly body condition score. **Switch feeds slowly** Always introduce a new feed slowly mixing it in with your old feed gradually over two weeks. Observe your horses closely during this period. Watch for changes in stool, attitude, and weight. **Keep water available** Make sure your horses have fresh clean water available. If you have automatic waterers make sure they are working correctly. ****Always follow label instructions****

· Most Important - schedule regular dental exams. · Wetting the feed down helps with chewing and digestion. · If the horse tends to bolt his food place one or more large (softball size or bigger) rocks in the feeder so the horse has to pick around them to get to his grain. Salt bricks work great! · Allow access to forage to reduce bolting at feeding time. · Spread feed out over a large feed trough so they get less in their mouth at a time. · Divide feed into 2 or more feedings a day. |
